A blueberry banana smoothie. It’s one of the most basic, but one of my favorite. It’s the perfect vehicle for adding greens and adaptogens. Seems like smoothies are getting crazy complex these days, with all the frozen vegetables and adaptogens one can add, often limiting fruit, but I still like to keep it simple. Bananas are the perfect base to create a creamy, dreamy texture. I like to add another fruit, in this case blueberries, but also love mango, strawberry, cherries, raspberries, and so on. As for adaptogens, this will be a post all of it’s own soon, I also keep it simple. I use mushrooms (LOVE this brand) and in this bowl, ashwagandha, for it’s adrenal support and calming properties. My favorite toppings are a dollop of coconut yogurt for probiotics, a drizzle of nut butter for protein, and cacao nibs for the antioxidants and crunch!

*Wild Blueberries. I’m a huge fan of the Medical Medium. I have incorporated much of what he teaches into my daily life. He’s all about the wild blueberries. Their healing and preventative properties make them so appealing. They are one of the best foods for brain function and help prevent dementia and Alzheimers related illnesses. He recommends a cup a day, and I probably get a cup in every other day.
