Let’s talk about this crockpot lasagna recipe. There are plenty of recipes on this blog that I say I love but friends, this really is one of my tops. This is not only super simple but it’s also very versatile and has loads of flavor for being made with only a few ingredients. I use ground beef and ground Italian sausage with a jarred sauce to make a delicious and super flavorful meat sauce. And while it’s not my mom’s lasagna (which is out of this world) and requires a full day making the sauce alone, this crockpot lasagna always has everyone wanting seconds.
I especially appreciate this crockpot lasagna because I can make it ahead of time and then store it in the fridge all week. I can also easily double the recipe depending on how many people I’m feeding. And if I feel like switching it up a bit, I can always add in some mushrooms, zucchini, and spinach if we need some veggies. This recipe is a delicious, reliable meal you can’t go wrong with. It’s no wonder it’s one of my go-to recipes when I’m in a pinch or just want a hearty meal.
INGREDIENTS FOR CROCKPOT LASAGNA
- Ground beef – I like to go for a nice grass-fed good quality beef since this is the main ingredient, but whatever you choose is good.
- Ground Italian sausage – I use mild because I’m feeding little ones but you can use spicy or some combo
- 32-ounce jar of pasta sauce – Since this is the base, I recommend something flavorful and one you really love
- Ricotta cheese – You can skip this but I love adding it
- Lasagna sheets – You will need roughly 6-8 sheets
- Mozzarella cheese for topping.
HOW TO MAKE CROCKPOT LASAGNA
- Start by browning the meat. I also add a little salt, pepper, and a little garlic powder, and oregano. This is just to give a little more flavor. Once the meat is browned, remove any excess fat, then pour in the sauce. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In the crockpot, layer a cup of sauce, spread lasagna noodles, more sauce, ricotta, more noodles, and the rest of the sauce, then top with mozzarella. Cover, and cook on high for about 3 hours or low for about 5 hours.
