When a recipe has puff pastry I think it’s off to a good start. Now let’s stuff it with ground Italian sausage and cheese, bake it, and you’ve got a delicious meal right here. These sausage rolls are the perfect addition to a meal plan.
Jump to RecipeItalian ground sausage, shredded mozzarella, and parmesan are stuffed and rolled into puff pastry and baked to crispy perfection. We love these sausage rolls and the kids love dipping them into different sauces. Pizza sauce or marinara are our go-to’s. Ranch would also be good! Pair with some roasted veggies, which you can cook with the rolls, or a fresh salad and you’re all set.
Sausage Rolls
Ingredients
- 16 oz Ground Italian sausage I use mild because I have kiddos
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1/2 cup shredded mozarella, packed
- 2 tbsp grated parmesan
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425.
- In a skillet, brown the ground sausage for about 10 minutes. Season with a little salt, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
- Turn off heat and stir in the breadcrumbs.
- In a small bowl, mix the parm and mozzarella.
- Lay out the puff pastry. Cut into 6 squares.
- In the skillet, portion off the meat into 6 little servings. This will make it easier to fill the rolls.
- Spoon the filling into one square at a time, leaving about a half inch perameter. Top the meat with some cheese.
- Gently roll the puff pastry. Place seem side down on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush the rolls with a whisked egg. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Cool slightly and serve with dipping sauce.
