Healthier Chocolate Frosty Smoothie

It’s no secret that I absolutely love a good smoothie. A quick search yields a bunch of good recipes, or you can check out my highlights on Instagram to see more of my everyday smoothie. My go-to for a smoothie is usually one with lots of mangoes, berries, and stuff like that. I like the fruity ones. But after picking up some chocolate protein powder and playing around with some recipes, I realized I’ve been missing out on the chocolate ones. To me, they taste more like a treat and absolutely delicious. But surprisingly healthy!

It’s a rather simple smoothie, consisting of banana and chocolate protein powder mostly. I add some cacao powder to give it a chocolate boost, a dash of vanilla extract for flavor, and some cashew butter to make it more creamy. Nut milk and a cup of ice get it nice and frothy. You can use another nut butter if you don’t have cashew on hand but it will alter the taste slightly. I’ve used peanut butter which is good but gives it a little different flavor.

I made this smoothie recently and loved it so much, I put the fruity ones on hold for a bit. I am all about this thick, creamy, chocolatey goodness. It’s so good and tastes like a total treat, but is surprisingly so healthy and good for you. Why? Let’s check it out below.

  • Banana – full of potassium (good for the nervous system), fiber, and vitamins like B6
  • Protein powder – You’ll need a chocolate protein powder to get the full frosty flavor for this smoothie.
  • Nut milk – Nut milk or regular milk is fine if that’s what you prefer
  • Cacao – optional but gives it more of a chocolate taste
  • I also like to add extras like Mushroom immune powder and collagen.  

A little trick I’ve been doing with bananas, freezing them while they are still kinda green. Like just the top has a little green. For anyone who get’s a little tummy ache or loose bowels from eating bananas, this might help. I use to let them get super ripe, with all the brown spots, because they are so much sweeter that way. But I did a little reading up and thought I’d try using them before they get too ripe. The greenish, less ripe bananas are supposedly better for the gut, at least those who are more prone to leaky gut.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 frozen banana I freeze them slightly green for easier digestion
  • 1 large scoop of chocolate protein powder anywhere from 1-2 tbsp depending on your scop
  • 1 tsp cocao powder optional but makes it more chocalately
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter you can use another nut butter but it will change the taste. i've also used peanut butter
  • 1 cup nut milk you make need more to get the desired consistancy
  • 1 cup ice
  • pinch of salt

Equipment

  • high speed blender

Method
 

  1. Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

Chicken Caesar Smashburger Tacos Mini street taco Chicken Caesar Smashburger Tacos

Mini street taco tortillas (or Mission low-carb), thin smashed ground chicken, and a simple Caesar salad on top. Crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle, and fresh from the salad.

We top ours with chopped Caesar salad, crispy bacon, and sometimes avocado. So good.

Mini street taco flour tortillas or @missionfoodsus low-carb tortillas
1 lb ground chicken
Salt, pepper, garlic powder
2 oz ground chicken per taco
Caesar salad
Cooked bacon, chopped (optional)
Avocado, diced (optional)

How to 
Season the ground chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Spread about 2 oz of ground chicken thinly onto each tortilla.
Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat.
Place the tortilla meat-side down in the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes, pressing lightly so it stays flat.
Flip and cook another 2–3 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked through.
Top with chopped Caesar salad, bacon, and avocado.

My kids are asking for them on repeat. 

Golden, crunchy, pantry-staples — no flour, no deep frying. 

Just chicken, crushed cornflakes, a little BBQ sauce, some seasoning… into the air fryer (or oven) and dinner is handled.

They’re easy and they’re kid-approved!

1 tablespoon butter melted
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

preheat oven to 375 degrees
lightly grease a muffin tin
separate the biscuit dough cut each one into 8-10 cubes
in a large bowl, whisk the eggs.
add chopped ham and shredded fontina to the bowl. 
Gently folded in the cut biscuits
bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden and cooked through adding about 5 extra minutes if needed
brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with parmesan

Total time about 25 minutes
