Brown Butter Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter browned
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 bananas very ripe, mashed (about 1 1/4 cup)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 190 grams
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts s or chocolate chips **OPTIONAL

Method
 

Brown the Butter:
  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Swirl the pan as it cooks. Once it smells nutty and turns golden brown, remove from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.

Preheat the Oven:
  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
Mix Wet Ingredients:
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add the eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.

Mix Dry Ingredients:
  1. In another bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Combine:
  1. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined. If using nuts or chocolate chips, fold them in now.
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts s or chocolate chipss
Bake:
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Tap it on the counter to release any air bubbles. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
Cool:
  1. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift it out and cool completely on a wire rack.
