Why We Love This Cinnamon Banana Bread
This banana bread stands out from the crowd thanks to a sweet cinnamon sugar layer nestled in the middle and dusted on top, offering a lovely texture contrast to the moist banana bread. Loved by adults and kids alike, this recipe has become a family favorite, best enjoyed with a pat of butter melting over a warm slice. Whether it’s for a cozy breakfast, a satisfying snack, or a heartfelt homemade gift, this cinnamon banana bread hits all the right notes.

Ingredient Breakdown:

Bananas: The star of the show, ripe bananas provide a natural sweetness and moisture.

Cinnamon & Sugar: These create the signature swirl and topping that makes this banana bread irresistible.

Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda: The essentials for a fluffy, well-risen loaf.

Eggs & Butter: For richness and binding the bread together.

Ingredient List:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and greasing a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Blend Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  • Combine and Layer: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle half the cinnamon sugar mix over the batter, then top with the remaining batter and cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Best Served With

Nothing complements this cinnamon banana bread better than a layer of butter on a warm slice. My kiddos love some peanut butter too.
